A Book 4 You

2020 – Langley Literacy Outreach Coordinator, Alicia Rempel shared this story of community support and care:

Partnering with Langley’s Ishtar Women’s Resource Society this project was created to  support women and children fleeing domestic violence.

The Langley Literacy Network wished to provide children and youth seeking safety with  a tangible, hard copy book of their own so they could find peace and joy in reading and  imagination.

For younger children, having a book of their own to read with their caregiver promotes healthy attachment and bonding and increases feelings of safety and security.

The Langley Literacy Network is so pleased to gift 290 children in Langley who pass through the Ishtar Women’s Resource Society with a book of their own!
