Volunteer Opportunities

Help change a life and give the gift of literacy. Become a literacy volunteer in your community.

 Current Volunteer Opportunities:

1. Adult Literacy Tutor - COOL Program

In the COOL program, volunteer tutors are paired with an adult literacy learner.
They meet each week for one to two hours at the library to develop the learner's reading and writing skills. The COOL program helps both newcomers to Canada, and Langley adults who were born in Canada and have trouble with reading and writing. All new tutors receive tutor training and our next tutor training will be held in January 2017.

Time Commitment:
3 hours/ week (1 hour of lesson planning, 2 hours of tutoring)
Tutors must commit to a 5 month period of tutoring

2. Wrap-a-Read Volunteer

Wrap-a-Read is a annual family literacy project, in which families registered with the Langley Christmas Bureau can select a new book for their child during the Toy Depot Days in December. Volunteers are needed to assist the families in selecting books for their children.
